Interview
with Ms. Doris Wirth, managing director of BLUEWATERS,
Austria. BLUEWATERS is in charge of WP6 - Alternative
Energy Solutions within the INTUSER project.
Email: Doris.Wirth@bluewaters.at
INTUSER:
Did you previously take part in FP5 or other similar EC
programs?
Doris
Wirth: Yes, I took part in quite a number of FP5 and
now also FP6 projects. I think it is worthwhile to be
partner in international consortia and develop ideas and
technologies together. It gives new and exciting views
and perspectives whereas if you stay within your local
research community only, things are endangered to reach
a dead end very soon.
INTUSER:
How did you get involved in the INTUSER project?
Doris
Wirth: We were invited by Innoterm and Geonardo, both
Hungarian companies well established in international
research and development community long before the accession
of Hungary to the EU. It is some time ago, but when I
remember correctly, they found our website and found us
to be a suitable partner for the workpackage "renewable
energy" and "geothermal energy". On behalf
of our company, Mag. Klara Bodri is in charge of INTUSER
and did excellent work on this work package.
INTUSER:
What is your main field of activity, and which research
field do you most prefer?
Doris
Wirth: As BLUEWATERS (http://www.bluewaters.at)
is well established in topics such as biodiesel and biomass,
as well as geothermals, we could contribute with EU best
practise solutions and a good network in both topics.
But we also learned a lot from our Hungarian partners
and we are impressed of the project management and timely
organsaition of events and project deliverables. It helps
us to concentrate on the inputs and contents.
INTUSER:
Please introduce briefly your institution.
Doris
Wirth: BLUEWATERS are consultants in energy and environment.
We work in networks and technology transfer in Czech Republic,
Hungary and Serbia. In all three countries we have staffed
offices, developing municipal environmental infrastructure
projects with a main focus on project finance.
INTUSER:
How could you contribute to the INTUSER project in the
future, and what ideas do you have in mind after the Intuser
project is completed?
Doris
Wirth: INTUSER helps us as with decision making in
the field of energy. We can supply mayors and urban developers
with documents in the field of energy which they understand
and can lead the energy debate on a municipal level.
INTUSER:
Is the INTUSER Project known in Austria, who do you think
may have heard about it, when and via what media? How
could this knowledge be spread further?
Doris
Wirth: INTUSER is well known to all our clients as
we not only have the link on our website, but also have
a one page summary of the project within our company profile
which is spread to clients and potential business partners
continuously.
We hope that the final conference will be an event to
make the results known to even more decision makers and
officials in Austria. The benefit for them are the publications
on the web which they can use for their work. I guess,
the main benefit of the project will be seen after some
time when the reports will be cited in a number of other
publication on energy.
INTUSER:
Thank you for accepting our invitation.
